Stephanie Harris, a Branch member, is going to brave life and limb by throwing herself out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft, and all in aid of the Legion.  Her plea is as follows:

Steph's Skydive

Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below.

Well, on Saturday 27th June this is what I'll be doing!!!!

This is an amazing opportunity for me to do something I have always dreamed of doing and at the same time supporting a Charity that I feel very strongly about. If you feel that you could sponsor me then Please, please contact me with your offer of sponsorship, providing your name, address (Postcode and House Number will be fine), telephone number, and the amount you wish to pledge.

Any amount will be gratefully received; part of the money raised pays for the tuition and jump costs, whilst the remainder will go directly to The Royal British Legion. If you are a tax payer, I would appreciate if you could confirm that so I can tick the Gift Aid box. This will enable the RBL to claim back any tax you have paid on your donation – currently 28p for every £1 you donate.

For those of you that are not aware of what the Legion does I have I have given a brief explanation below.

The Royal British Legion is a UK charity that provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.

The Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-Service community and over 380,000 members continue to ensure that this voice does not go unheard. Although the needs of ex-Service people have changed over the years, we are still there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory.

We are probably best-known for our role as the nation's custodian of Remembrance and for the Poppy Appeal which we organise annually.

If you would like any more information please feel free to contact me or more information can be found on their website www.britishlegion.org.uk
