Opening of the National Memorial Arboretum
16 May 2001 - Alrewas, Staffordshire

The following photographs were taken by Branch Member Peter James on the occasion of the formal opening of the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire by HRH the Duchess of Kent.

They show a new plaque on the plinth centred on the Y Services plot at the Arboretum and various scenes giving a vivid insight into the success of the occasion.  One picture particularly commends itself.  It is the shot of the ladies who manned the wireless intercept positions at Beaumanor during the war, including the authoress of 'England Needs You', Mrs Joan Nicholls.
